I bought two pairs of the MedSpec CMC-X Lacer Thumb Stabilizer, one for each hand, to address the instability in my thumb cmc joint. I'm hypermobile, and have a tendency to partially dislocate my thumbs while doing normal daily activities, so I wanted something that was both effective and practical for daily wear. I've tried a few braces before this, and none have worked for me.
This brace is remarkably comfortable, and doesn't really restrict my range of motion at all. It can make some finer movements slightly more difficult, such as texting, but that's a trade-off I am more than willing to make for how effective it is. The supportive metal stay and x-straps are easy to move to the right place to give me the support my joint needs in just the right spot. I haven't had a single subluxation while wearing these, and they're comfortable enough that I don't mind wearing them.
I also have tried the version of this brace without the lacer closure, and this really is an improvement. Not only is it way easier to put it on one-handed this way, it also is just a hair less wide in that section, letting it sit much more nicely on the wrist.
One of the two braces I received ended up having a small issue (it was basically impossible to see, but it made the brace uncomfortable to wear), and the customer service folks were fantastic in dealing with it. They responded super quickly, and even contacted the manufacturer on my behalf. Less than a week after I sent my first message, I had a second fully-functional brace in my hands.
All in all, this is a really good brace being sold by a solid company.
